I don't see your connection.
From the XIII video (at the beginning), you see the small ship approaching the planet (Earth planet?).
From the VIII video (at the end), you see Balamb Garden approaching the Moon.
From the XIII video (at the beginning), your camera moves upside to the planet when the small ship approaches.
From the VIII video (at the end), your camera moves upside to the Moon when Balamb Garden approaches.
Your point...?

Could you link the FFVIII section you're referring to? Hard to compare with just one vid. Not quite sure exactly which part of FFVIII you're saying it's similar to.

I kind of see it being similar. It could be a minute reoccurring element, but I think it's just more of a coincidence.

I watched it, and I can say two things.
One, it looks cool and I'm probably going to pre-order it like a fanboi.
Two, I wouldn't mind an on-rails shooter minigame in the airship. I think it could be a nice addition, so long as it isn't overdone.
I can't see any similarity, but maybe that's just me.
