Curiously in Brazil they seem to have an obsession with their high-profile World Cup defeats, often even more so than their successes. The 1950 World Cup final loss is still seen as their biggest footballing tragedy for instance, possibly as it's the only World Cup they've hosted to date, until 2014 anyway.
What can I say? In England they can't stop themselves being fixated on their one moment of glory. They'll even overlook how crap the 1990 World Cup was simply because it was the only time since England have come close to repeating the feat! It's all pretty bewildering to the outsider really.
Besides I just brought up 1966 because of North Korea and their victory over Italy then![]()
