Default Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerberus

Im kinda new, so I'm sorry if there is already a thread on this.

But what did you guys think about it? I personally loved it, I thought it had a very good plot and great characters and voice acting, the graphics were superb (for ps2) and the gameplay was great. It had sort of a unigue aiming system, it was almost impossible to miss unless you were on extreme mode.

So if you liked it, tell me why.
If you didnt, then why not.

    You guys know the drill.:shoot:

We have a subforum dedicated to all of the VII spinoffs, so I'm moving this thread there. As for the topic matter, I haven't played it!

I disliked it fwith a passion. To be a FF game the grahpics were sub par, too many pointed objects. The story was meh to me and had generic villains. On regular difficulty the game was too easy and the aiming a bit sloppy and overall gunplay without much depth. There's no dodge roll and it's hard to turn around quickly if you need to. The melee moves are preset and don't make you feel good when you smack someone with it. The game didn't become fun for me until the last two levels.

I enjoyed it quite a bit but I'm an FFVII fanboy, it could have been 5 hours of Vincent taking a dump and I'd still say that.

I liked how different it was than any other FF but still kept the overall feel of one. I think everyone would agree that Vincent is one of the most badassiest when it comes to FF characters, and I'm glad he got a game devoted to him.

Gaurdian: My sentiments exactly, Vincent is my favorite FFVII character. One of my favorite parts of the game was, of course, the Chaos levels.

I played it back when it came out with a friend and remember thinking "Huh, Square made a really crappy sequel to a game I thought was alright, only they also decided to make it a terrible Devil May Cry rip off. Pass."

The game design seemed like they took a check list of everything in a generic action game and shoved it in, not bothering to really innovate or expand on anything. Escort mission? Yep. Key cards? You betcha. Arbitrary gates that you can't get past until mowing down hordes of brain-dead A.I soldiers? Done. Combine this with the lack of a FFVII feel in the world (I'd have loved to have gone to more locales then "office building" and "sewer") and there's something wrong here. Not even the rote gunplay could save this, and the melee combat's canned three-hit combo left me wishing for more options. About the only thing that truly made me notice was the gun modification aspect, which I thought was actually well-done and is something I think every game that involves shooting should utilize in one way or another.

So yeah, I was not impressed. But hey, if you were, well good for you.

EDIT: Also, I have a had time thinking "Final Fantasy VII" and "badass", but that's just me as well, and no it's not flamebait.
Boy am I an unfunny ass.

hell yeah. his gun is pretty much a one hit ko on anything thats not a boss.... it wouldve come in handy for some of the harder challenges and minigames

A below average game which featured horrible game play and shoddy graphics.

Oh and I didn't like it.
