On page 20 of the manual there's a picture of a sword [reference image]. It doesn't appear in the game anywhere. It's worth noting that it resembles the Excalibur from Crystal Chronicles.

Just a design that didn't get used, if I had to guess. Crystal Chronicles borrowed a lot of enemies and general artistic sensibilities from FFIX, so it's no surprise that it would crop up again there.

they probably put it in the manual because it looks cool. or maybe they were hoping someone would notice and post about it ten years later. that would be an interesting "mini game" to include, like a reverse where's waldo.
At first glance, I thought I saw Chocobo hair on that sword - like someone decorated it with pieces of a Chocobo.
