Default Jin Dobrieh [now with pictures]

Greetings and salutations good people of EoFF (the title of the thread is actually good day in Polish, if I spelt it correct that is, I have trouble spelling this language out and speaking it too). I bring greetings from cloudy Leszno in Poland I am having good fun, it is quite warm but cloudy outside and there appears to be a good deal of flooding going on west of here towards the German border.

I've just returned from the city of Poznan which is where the local airport is for my flight home too. Poznan is really quite cool and absoloutely ancient, later I will come back to post some pictures of the town because it was fantastic in the rustic sense. The old market square is just quite frankly one of those places that makes you think "wow" because every building is decorated differently but not just the actual colours ect but the very buildings are different from how they end at the top to the freezes and depictions in the masonry. This combined with the rustic style of the square makes for a very beautiful place. The reason for my trip to Poznan was my girlfriend's uncle Marek got married, Catholic weddings are very serious business it seems and so I was fully expected to cross myself properly and stand/kneel at all the right times in the church I don't believe in God myself but I know how to be respectful of others cultures. The wedding was great I had a really good time at it and maybe some of the pictures of me at the wedding can make it on to this site too...maybe depends on if you're lucky. The food and party at this wedding were a lot smaller in size and quantity (respectively ofcourse) than the previous polish wedding I went to but in a way for me the wedding was better with a live jazz/blues/lounge music band complete with a singer ect and fewer but very, very tastey food dishes such as rare beef with a cherry sauce hmmmm so good you won't believe.

So yes I will try to post pictures soon, depends on when I'm next online and also when I can access the pictures (our camera is pretty rubbish and won't let me remove files until after I've recharged the batterries)

So for a topic the rest of you can comment on, where is the furthest away from home you've ever posted on EoFF from?

The UK, I would think. I don't think that I ever posted from Austria when I was there.

I might have posted from Gran Canaria when I was there, but I'm not sure. If not, probably Barcelona.

I guess Florida. My homes are alternately in Arkansas and Ohio so I guess I shouldn't really count either of those.

Washington or Oregon I think, maybe Calgary or Edmonton. Furthest I've been from home (New York) in a while where I've had internet access. I don't remember exactly since the WA/OR trip was at least 2 years ago, and Alberta was in 2002.

I'm not sure exactly which is farther from Missouri: Korea, Germany or Iraq.

I can't remember if I posted on EoFF when I was in Calgary, but if I did then there. If not, then it's probably the PC next to me.

Ok so I promised you guys some pictures from my visit to Poznan. I will post some of Leszno later on but first here goes some from Poznan:

Me dressed for the wedding in my suit in the hotel room in Poznan, treasure the moment you saw me don a white shirt because for formal occassions I usually wear dark or non-white shirts.

My hotel the Brovaria in Poznan we stayed only 1 night but for a 3 star hotel we got some excellent service and the rooms were far more comfortable than the rooms in a 3 star english hotel (apparently the Brittania in Birmingham where we stay for meetups is 3* I think not compared to this one)

The just married couple after the wedding ceremony, thats 2 catholic weddings I have been to where I didn't understand any of the words spoken.

My girlfriends dad. He picked the wrong suit bag up and ended up wearing the top half of a tuxedo and jeans it was the source of many jokes, he doesn't know I took this picture otherwise I'd probably be dead!

This one shows me the morning after the wedding in Poznan's old market square at the center of the city, the Brovaria hotel is a building on this square and it's really really pretty you can see some of the buildings behind me in this but below I'll post some shots with greater detail

You can see what I meant by pretty buildings there was stuff like horse drawn carriages going round.

Also theres a quite famous clock there which at certain times of the day has two wooden goats come out and butt each other. Below is a picture of the clock in action:

So there you have it, some of the many pictures I took whilst in Poznan bear in mind that my days were pretty full, straight after taking these we had to go see the newly weds again and then it was back to Leszno so if I should be going back to Poznan again to see it more leisurely.
