Thread: Was James Cameron inspired by Robocop?

Default Was James Cameron inspired by Robocop?

Back in the eighties, The Terminator and Robocop were two of the biggest films from Orion Pictures but the one noticeable difference between the two was the simple fact that Robocop a.k.a. John Murphy was the good guy and The Terminator a.k.a T-800 was the bad guy.

Do you think James Cameron wanted to show everyone that The Terminator could be a good guy too when he did his sequel? Because it seems that way to me. It seems like he borrowed the notion having a good cyborg from Robocop.

It could also be because he already used the 'human fighting a machine' idea in the first movie :p.

I'd say they both got the same ideas from other earlier sources.
