Blue Mages can throw Rods at any time, although I can't remember exactly how or whether other classes can.
I never knew that! Blue mages get another awesome point, leaving them with a total of 362.
It's a pretty common low-level strategy
Get some of this stuff. My mom uses it whenever she removes wallpaper or border.
