Hello Pika Art by Dr Unne ~~~ godhatesfraggles
Shiva is just a name at the end of the day, I believe Square obviously thought that depicting Shiva as a female ice elemental would be more suitable which is actually quite logical based on the fact that ice is frozen water but still water. In most fantasy settings water and air elementals are often than not depicted as female. Same as Ifrit (Efreet another way of spelling the same word or even the plural I think) is actually not the devil he seems to get portrayed as. Ifrit are male or female, winged spirits below the level of demons and angels. However turning Ifrit in to a huge kick ass non-winged demon makes a lot of sense from the fantasy setting.
The fact remains that, regardless of whether the change is good, Square's Shiva (along with Bahamut, and Orthros, and Typhon, and all the freakish monsters in FFIII named after Judaic angels, etc.) is wildly different from her namesake. I think that's all this is meant to point out.
Miscellany: The plural of Efreet is Efreeti.
i have no opinion either way ladyboys are good people as for deceiving fanboys that was just laying the groundwork for acceptance of transgendered people

^ Lies! I refuse to believe it!
No. The summon Shiva is a female. Shiva is also a name of a Hindu god. Square made their own new summon, but named it Shiva probably because of similar personalities. I already knew that there was a Hindu god named Shiva, but Shiva is not a ladyboy.
The same thing with other summons. Bahamut might not be a dragon, but the dragon has personalities of Bahamut.
Nice joke, Breine.

No time for "Dilly-Dallying" or "Shilly-Shallying."
Props go to the one and only, Proxy, for the signature.
It's funny how many people are not getting the joke
Shiva rhymes with Quina.
Such good fun! The truth shall set ye free you bastards! My wife's a Hindu, so I found out about Shiva like that and my world has not been the same since.
Actually, not male... didn't Shiva have qualities of both male and female? I may be wrong, but I remember hermaphrodity playing a role...
I think i remember my RE teacher saying something like that arcanedude.
Some religions think shes a man, some a woman also.
