they weren't the main characters, you just experienced the story from their perspective i guess
i though the story was great personally

i also like the entire soundtrack
I agree about the characters, you need a perspective point and as a writer it can be sometimes hard to get the player to understand the protagonists point of view if you're making them do all the hard work (ask a 100 people what was going through Cloud's head at key points of VII or Squall's in VIII and see how many answers you get) Therefore throw in a couple of mildly amusing, light hearted newb like characters who are learning much of the stuff about the world as the player does and seeing what the other main characters of a story are thinking becomes easier especially with computer games as they get to interact with them like for example when you keep talking to Fran in the entrance to the Viera village she'll eventually give away some tidbits of information which help understand why she won't go with you. If you were seeing the story from Fran's perspective you'd not get that it'd just be "oh lets give you a shopping list and send you on" or a massively long cut scene ect.

Why don't you get stuck in an explosion and not come back when the party needs a sixth member
You can only have five party members at once in FFIV.
It's not like I would remember it all that well

    Devil may cry 2
it had slightly better action than the first but it was to straight forward and impossable to get lost. the story was very cliche and had terrable plots that were way to predictable, the main villan was a pissed off asian of all things and the final battle you had to fight (SPOILER)all the demons from the game all balled up into one clustersmurf and after that was all done and over with, with out a save or anyway to get health stars you must fight (SPOILER)another demon that fights like a cheating basterd and if you die you must re fight the clustersmurf again

DMC2 was terrible. Its dirt easy since the guns are overpowered and the bosses were extra retarded in this game. Lucia was sadly the better part of the game.

I almost wish I could give a game name or two. Almost. I have a bad enough time finishing the games I do like.

People complaining about dumb stories in RPGs always amuses me.

Am I the only one who enjoyed DMC2? Sure it was easier than the first but it still felt like a good DMC game and Dante Must Die mode was nothing short of usual DMC painful.

    i didn't mind dmc2
but it didn't have enough pull for me to bother with disc 2
    but yeah lucia was hot

i think the contrast point between dmc2 and the others was that it was just an easier game in every possible way, and as anyone who's played the dmc games will tell you, if it's easy, it doesn't seem right

It's certainly one of the best soundtracks I've purchased.

I didn't not like it (because DMD Mode-like gameplay is what I live for when it comes to gaming xD)... I just thought the storyline was rather underwhelming, interesting concept for the Final Boss though.

i loved dmc2 but it still doesnt change the fact that the game was way to simple to go through.

Xenosaga II. edczxcvbnm was cracking up watching me play this because I was yelling and crying about how everything in the game was terrible, and how elated I was when I finally beat it.

The Xeno games (xenogears and xenosaga series) aren't meant to be played for the gameplay. If gameplay is what you are looking for then the xeno series is definitely not for you because it is ALL about story.
