I will never be a memory.
no way this movie was about the fast food industry causing damage to the health care system COME ON GUYS
I've never had such a strong reaction to a movie before. I was physically ill at some parts, literally shaking and close to vomiting.
It has to be one of the best movies I've ever seen.
The documentary feel was very good, just right. Wilkus' actor was jaw-dropping, like Miriel said he pulled everything off just right.
I really liked the ending. It was a deft mix of satisfaction for audience, realistic ending to a movie, and unresolved storyline.
Another thing to point out is that the alien design was fantastic. (SPOILER)When you first see them, they just look like horrible unappealing things, but then later, you notice how expressive and beautiful their eyes are as they become more and more sentient to you. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but I did admire it.
Smurfing hell. I was expecting this to be good. This wasn't good, this was sublime in the utmost.
I just saw it myself and to be honest I didn't really get why people were lauding this as highly as they were. Maybe it's because this summer has been so lousy for films anything that comes along that's decent is by comparison a masterpiece.
A lot of people have been saying the symbolism is heavy-handed, but only insofar as the general attitude towards the aliens goes. Apart from that for me the story has little parallels with real-world events. Granted it's meant to be a science fiction story but still, there's not a direct link that I could see beyond the idea "humans are bastards to each other".
(SPOILER)I'm also 99% sure the apartheid in South Africa didn't revolve around getting the native people's highly advanced super weapons. Another thing that bugged me was the depiction of Nigeria's as a bunch of borderline crazy, violent sociopaths with a tendency to lean towards voodoo ritual. That to me just seemed like blatant stereotyping of a nation of people and didn't serve any purpose other than another thread within the movie.
Overall I thought it was entertaining, but it isn't the cinematic masterpiece people are claiming it is.
There is no signature here. Move along.
The film didn't really hold my interest. It was just conglomerated in stereotypical gibberish that just stirs bigotry.
This was a rather cool movie.
everything is wrapped in gray
i'm focusing on your image
can you hear me in the void?
I enjoyed it a lot. The characters were great, the (what i guess you could call) black comedy was pulled off perfectly, especially in the beginning. Strange that the action could be so great as well. I really enjoy things like the documentary and news program aesthetic in movies, and overall I just liked the way certain things looked.
Interesting story, adequate acting, and a pretty great ending actually, I'd recommend it.
