Metropolis is a good movie, but yeah not well known. My Pro Tools teacher had us do some ADR over it last year and that's how I found out about it.

Going to go watch the new school Nightmare On Elm Street soon. I was told it was horrible.

    Black Dynamite

    5/10

I'm impressed with how they managed to make it looks like it was from 70s. Great casting as well with some special appearances by Arsenio Hall and Brian McKnight. It took me a while to really get into, but I thought it did a good job at paroding all the absurd things that occured in many black exploitation films from that time period. Maybe not an extremely laugh out loud movie, but it will get a chuckle a few times. Most people probably won't get it and just write it off a silly comedy if they have never actually seen a black exploitation film before...which is a good thing unless Pam Grier is in it.

Got finish watching Evan Almighty and it's quite a shame, because I believe if that they were to happen today it would actually go along similarly.

I watched Paranormal Activity today. Not the sequel, mind you. With the sound off (since the tv I was using had its sound messed up with the DVD for some reason.) It was less scarier than I had expected. I'd probably watch it again with sound since reading the captions wasn't exactly scary. Imagine having to read [Loud creaking.] and other noise descriptions while watching. xD

    Um, I'll rate it 4/10

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

Yeeaaah, you need the sound. Especially for the end. Paranormal Activity is scariest for people who are afraid of the dark instead of rational things like being stabbed. I couldn't sleep for a week after I saw it xD

EndingDid you see the cheese ending where she hurled Micah's body at the camera and then demonfaced at it, or the one where she just rocked in place for a couple of days?

    The Strangers
I'm not normally scared by horror movies, but this was completely unsettling. I actually had a nightmare based on it. Very well-executed and legitimately scary.

The Good, The Bad, The Weird

    7/10

I had a hard time figuring out where this film was taking place and during what time period because they added very modern elements to it, but yeah thought it was really funny. Has some nice action in it. The "weird" one adds a great comedic aspect to the film. The "bad" guy adds a take on a psychopath who happens to be skilled with knives and the "good" guy is just pure badass. Reminds of the main guy in Red Dead Redemption. His costume is pretty cool too. <3 Korean films. The only bad part I can say is that it is a bit too long. Could have been condensed.

I also (finally) watched Scott Pilgrim today for the first time and I smurfing loved it. Awesome, awesome cast. I loved all of the comic book graphics and video game references.

I have to say that Mae Whitman was my favorite part, even if she was only a secondary character.

    9/10.

Watched Nightmare Before Christmas again because I've let all of October pass me by and haven't had time to watch it so I remedied that on Halloween night. The film is still awesome, that is all.

One of my favorite genres of horror is the sympathetic psychopath. It's moving to see a character like Mark Lewis or Francis Dollarhyde try to find normal relationships despite being imprisoned by their compulsions. May definately fits this type. She's introverted, needy, and strange.

The people she meets seem to value her unique twisted sense of the macabre, but they're merely dabblers while shes a full time resident. Even her best friend, (SPOILER)a toy doll, seems out to get her at times. Very creepy but facinating.

    Board and Care

    9/10

I was really impressed by this short and sweet film. It's a romance about two people with Down Syndrome. The thing that impressed me the most was that the primary focus wasn't on the fact that the two young people had Down Syndrome. I was also really impressed that despite this being a student film, it looked professional, and the direction of the two actors who actually had Down Syndrome was superb. Because they had Down Syndrome it made me believe their performances even more than the less authentic performances of actors without Down Syndrome in films like Yonkers Joe and The Other Sister. It was trying to be a tragic love story (and it succeeded) instead of trying to be a film that showcases the fact that retarded people can love to -- a fact that most people know by now anyway. Definitely recommend it.
