I wouldn't say Inception is always easy to follow. The first twenty or thirty minutes are pretty confusing if you haven't seen the film before, which is clearly a deliberate move on the part of the director - (SPOILER)it's pointed out several times in the film that it's impossible to remember how a dream began, so beginning in the middle without any real explanations for what's happening at first makes sense given the subject matter.
