Equestria Girls was better than I was expecting. Still would've preferred an actual "pony" movie, but y'know.

    Watched Independence Day last night.

Late for my July 4th tradition, but worth it! I still think it's a great movie, and I'm shocked to learn there's a sequel in the making!

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

    World War Z

i loved the movie!! it really has a great story to it!!
but on the downside: the 'next move' is a bit predictable. i found myself always being 1 step ahead of the movie and already knowing what he would have to do!

and Brad Pitt looks verry well for his age in this movie ^^

    Despicable Me 2

Movie was legit funny. Those minion things were smurfing hilarious. Good movie to see completely wasted.

    7/10 normally. 8/10 on something.

    It's the full animation made alongside Daft Punk's 'Discovery' album. You might remember the music videos with the blue characters;

It's basically an hour long music video following the entire album, not a word is spoken in between. But surprisingly even without the use of words and with electronic beats in the background there are plenty of scenes evoking emotion. The animations are stunning, creative and a bit psychedelic. What surprised me most is the story; a very nifty balance between the fight against an evil record company, a love that is out of reach, and how music has both up and downsides keeps you interested the whole way.

The movie has a lot of creative, surprising twists and I really liked it.

    8/10

    Dogtooth

    1/10

Terrible movie not because its bad cinematography or anything. It actually has really impressive shots and used its low budget really well. IT's the fact that the subject matter ofthe movie is so god damn disturbing. I was tricked into watching this thinking it was some artistic film. It's not. It's about a father who keeps his 3 kids at home and makes them believe the outside world doesn't exist and so he raises them like dogs. Its messed up. Also incredibly disturbing just like the premise of the story.

It's the Josh Whedon satirical horror/comedy one.

    Recently, in order?

This Is The End - caught a break and was invited to go watch a preview advance screening at Sony Pictures in London was a damn good film, best after a couple of bevvies!

Man Of Steel - I liked it's more Nolan Batman trilogy overtones however it lacked in some aspects. I appreciate that they chose to show the man of steel with some limits and fight through Metropolis City. I still never understood the need DC has to invent fictional cities though.

Silver Linings Playbook - I love this film, it's amazing I don't care how soft that makes me sound brings back memories of Garden State and a lot more. Stella performances all around and I like the moral behind it.

I should quantify my comments about Superman Man Of Steel more actually. I meant the destruction of Metropolis caused by his battle. I also liked that they did not ignore the cost in human life someone with Superman's strength and powers could cause in such an event. It made a lot more sense and was grittier and more realistic which is what was meant by the reference to Nolan's Batman Trilogy which did the exact same thing.

I'm not sure I feel that it lived up to the exceptionally high level Nolan delivered to us in the Batman movies, I suppose as it is an origin story we will be able to see this develop dramatically in subsequent films I just hope that they continue to ask Nolan (and that he is willing) to assist on their films as a producer to help with the atmospherics. If done right DC could finally take Marvel's crown in regards to quality superhero films. At the moment though Man of Steel was relatively underwhelming.

Considering they're attempting to mimic Marvel's excellent Ironman, Thor, and Avengers films and do the Justice League, other characters such as 'The Green Lantern' need a new reboot if the grittier Nolan created DC universe is the one they wish to pursue. The description I'd give to the most recent Green Lantern movie is not particularly pleasant but I feel we can all arguably appreciate the fact that it just won't mesh with the way Christopher Nolan has set the Justice League of America to follow through.

    Roger Rabbit - 10/10

I always forget how much I love this movie until I watch it again. I have an absolute sore spot for private eye movies and I haven't seen nearly enough them. Everything from the slapstick comedy to the typical LA PI scene to the weasels to situations like Roger handcuffing himself to Eddie in a moment of crisis to (SPOILER)the incredible revealing twist moment of Judge Doom as the killer of Eddie's brother it is all so, so perfect. Of course, Roger in himself is an amazing character, but it's everything about LA and Toon Town and all the additional characters that make this movie what it is. And Judge Doom and the weasels! Could you ask for a better villain and henchmen? Judge Doom absolutely smurfing terrified me as a small child. Absolutely petrifying.

I love this film because it's a Disney movie and there's a bunch of silly characters, many of whom are well-known, but also because of the serious adult tones in it. Otherwise a film noir of murder, lies and scandals in a big city and a man who's turned drunk since the death of his partner brother has to step up to solve it all in order to save the very toons he resents and inwardly blames as a whole for the death of his brother. Love it, love it.

Undoubtedly, my favorite scene is when Dolores says, "A toon killed his brother," and all the men at the bar turn around. "Dropped a piano on his head." And then they all turn back the other way.

"I'm through with taking falls and bouncing off the walls, without that gun I'd have some fun, I'd kick you in the-"
    "NOSE"
"Nose?! That don't rhyme with 'walls!'"

10/10 for sure. Also one of the best rides at Disneyland, if you can make it through the screaming, crying, ungrateful masses of children after waiting in line for 45 minutes.

Going for Chinatown next now that I'm in an LA PI mood and might follow up with The Maltese Falcon after that!

    Cherry Crush w/Nikki Reed.

7/10 - It's pretty slow going at first, but she does wayyyy better in "lower budget" indie flicks instead of garb like Twilight.
But. I have a major crush on Nikki Reed, so. Yeah.
