Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing
    8/10

A bit confusing in the beginning, but I ended up loving it. I loved seeing all of the recurring Whedonverse actors. It bugged me that Nathan Fillion is listed as a main player when has such a minor role, but he was hilarious.

    Would recommend!

Takashi Miike's The Great Yokai War
    6.5/10

Miike's take on a live-action Miyazaki film, essentially. Loved the very extensive use of Japanese mythology. I enjoyed the movie overall, and there were quite a few laugh-out-loud moments that weren't lost in translation. Unfortunately, the b-movie special effects and over the top goofiness kept this from being as poignant or moving as a true Miyazaki film.

X-Men Days of Future Past was...
Ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And one-hundred percent reason to remember the name

I really enjoyed it. Leo nailed it, as per.

I had never seen As Good As It Gets before tonight. That movie gave me a lot of feels, oh wow. I am not a fan of little dogs, but holy christ on a bike that dog was just about the cutest little thing I've ever seen.

The awkward head-slapping moments were at times a bit too awkward fand uncomfortable to me. I couldn't understand if they were trying to convey that his character has Asperger's as well as his OCD ailments or if he was just socially clueless. Not really a big Helen Hunt fan and I didn't love her character, but I thought it was good how well she stood up for herself throughout the entire film. I'm also not really a fan of Greg Kinnear, but he did pretty well, too.

Jack Nicholson is just a peach, though. I love it when he puts on that crazy smile of his and you see this glimmer of insanity in his eye and all of his other crazy roles like The Joker and Jack Torrance and Frank Costello flash before you for just a moment. I'm going to be so sad when that dude dies.

    7/10

    Maleficent.

With the exception of some overacting in one battle, I thought it was an overall enjoyable experience and a good retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty tale from Maleficent's point of view. Angelina Jolie was great and it even put the last comedy I saw to shame since there was more funny bits in this movie that didn't feel contrived.

I enjoyed Sharlto Copley as the king and Imelda Staunton as a fairy.

That's actually one of Adam Sandler's movies I think a lot of people like! I wasn't a fan, but you're in the majority (from what I know)

    The Lady in the Water

I think a lot of people dislike this movie (not unlike shion with Click!) but it just really touches something inside of me and I lose it. So beautiful.

Click was pretty dull and depressing, I thought. The premise was actually excellent but the execution was poor.

Yeah, Click got sad and depressing damn quick.

I forgive it for having Kate Beckinsale.

    The Rover

    8/10

I've said this before, but it reminded me of a modern-day Of Mice and Men with Robert Pattinson playing the idiot sidekick. Guy Pearce does a fantastic job playing a man scorned after car thiefs steal his car which holds a curious value to him. This is not a post-apocalyptic movie. It's a movie of what Australia would be like if it were a third world country and after a huge economic collapse. This is the same director of the Animal Kingdom which I heard was also good and will check out.

    The Battery

    10/10

Like the best zombie film I have seen in a long, long time. The subgenre is so overworn now, but this film is a really interesting take on it, more of a road movie than a horror, although definitely a movie for horror fans, too. None of the scenes were really planned as far as I know, it's pretty arty and very well made. Jeremy Gardner both directs and stars in as one of the protagonists. Great stuff!

A documentary on Netflix about Russian mail order brides. Was actually not bad. Wasn't overly long and was informative enough. One guy though just bugged me

This guy is like 100 lbs overweight and he gets a Russian mail order bride and says "American women her age don't take care of themselves. They're like 50 lbs overweight."

    REALLY

    REALLY!?!?!?!?!
