Word. I have no more to add to that. So, just, word.
I watched two movies today. I rate things a little higher than most people I think, because I tend to get into things easier, because I don't know, I guess it just takes a lot more for me to hate something than like it, and I'm able to appreciate so much about whatever art form I'm partaking in. I don't know why I'm explaining this.
Anyway I just watched The Rover. I want to just post my Criticker review:
9/10
I'm still not sick of post-apocalyptic movies, and that's kinda special. This one is incredibly bleak and brutal. It doesn't have some huge plot, no huge conspiracy, just a simple moment in time, a guy chasing down the people who took his car with the help of one of the brothers of the people he's hunting. It's like a snapshot of the post-apocalyptic world, wonderfully acted by the two leads. The violence is much like Drive... intense and sudden, with impact. Great road trip/post-apoc movie.
Since Criticker has a character limit, I'd like to just add that the director of this movie is off to a great start. He's done this and Animal Kingdom and I've loved both. Gave Animal Kingdom an 8.5.
I also watched Killers today as well.
8.5/10
I found the last couple minutes kind of cheesy and stupid, but the rest of the movie was really great. It explored some really dark psychological trout in an interesting way, such as violence and what drives us to it. The relationship between the serial killer and the journalist is intriguing, the violence is incredibly brutal, and it's shot really well.
It was a good day for movies. It was also a bit of a violent day, I guess.
