Visually I think I prefer silver though

Pretty much this. Gold gets a nod for it's electrical wiring contribution, but I know silver can also do that so that counters well. Gold always looks all "uhn nuhn nuh"and flashy to me. Silver is pretty but not "LOOK AT MY ARM! LOOK AT MY DAMN ARM!".
I'm more tolerant of silver (about 5% more tolerant than gold)

If we're talking about colors, then I'd go with Silver.
If we're talking about jewelry, then I'd rather have nothing to do with either of them.
Jewelry wise, since we're talking about jewelry (and even if we aren't I'm going to talk about jewelry), I prefer white gold.
Never really fancied yellow gold. Doesn't match my skin tone.
