The Lion King, definately, but Hairspray is a close second. I really haven't seen many musicals apart from Disney to be honest, though.

I love musicals. Adored Sound of Music when I was growing up. Loved Moulin Rouge. Of course all the Disney films. Enchanted! Loved Dr. Horrible, the musical episode of Buffy, and it's not a movie but I just saw Wicked and thought it was fantastic. It makes me happy when people break out into song and dance.
...You mean people actually liked Across the Universe? Don't get me wrong, she was a good singer and kind of hot, but 'I want to hold your hand' is NOT meant to be sung in such a depressing voice. It is a rather happy and upbeat song.
The only redeaming quality to that movie was their version of I Want You, just for how utterly acidy that video was.
I loved almost everything about Repo (didnt care for the seventeen song), somewhat enjoyed sweeney todd and though I really liked the music and choreography in Moulin Rouge I felt the film itself was rather cheesy. Lion King and Nightmare before Christmas are some other favourites of mine. I thought Sound of music was rather ok but when I nostalgiate about it my favourite aspect of the movie was that it went for almost 3 hours unlike sissy movies today which only run for 2, back then we got our moneys worth. Ah yes and grease is also quite catchy.
Also If it counts I really liked Tenacious D and Blues Brothers.
Kefka's coming, look intimidating!
Have a nice day!!
You thought Moulin Rouge was cheesier than Repo? 0.o
Don't get me wrong, its pretty cheesy, but I found Repo's level of cheesy annoying. But then, I'm really against that film just because my best friend's girlfriend plays it constantly. Can't be around her without seeing it anymore. It was alright the decent the first time, but not the twelfth.
Atleast Repo doesnt mention the word 'Love' about every 5 seconds like in Moulin Rouge. I mean we get the frikin point, there are other words to use, other ways to convey it. STOP SAYING LOVE! The last few lines he did on the type writer had me about to throw up when i shouldve been bawling my eyes out. I didnt have the constant need to strangle the main character in Repo (though i did feel like slapping her in the seventeen song). And I thought JK Rowling's use of love was bad.
Also Repo gave an atmosphere where I felt everything was extremely satirical and saturated in black humour so i could forgive it for whatever cheese i saw
