I really like how the characters parallel their originals, right down to the parting speeches by our favorite villains.
Sorry, hit the post button a bit early on this one.
That being said, despite the parallels, I am really impressed by the fleshing out they did to the characters, especially the tragic heros on Chaos's side. Jecht, playing his role through with Tidus, understanding that the war repeats forever, and treating it as one big game, where one side wins, then everything is reset. Golbez, fighting to aid his brother throughout the entire thing, and willing to accept the consequences for siding with Chaos when his time comes. Garland, caught in the wheel of time, and manipulating it as he did in Final Fantasy, yet also a prisoner of it himself.
It's an incredible job of bringing the characters to life. I only wish we had this much interaction with some of them in their original games. Such as Ultimecia.

My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.
He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.
I agree that the game has really shone some of the complexity and greatness of the FF villains. I've always like Emperor Mateus but seeing him in this title I really feel we get a much better understanding of his truen intent and level of evil. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite villains. Seeing the character bounce off each other shows really promising stuff, from Zidane and Bartz friendly rivalry to Terra and Cloud's soul searching together. Even the WoL is presented as this iconic figure, more like a mythic hero than a real human being and it actually works for the game.
I'm especially pleased with the parallels to the original games story and themes. Its created an odd "wholeness" with the series.

Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
The Emperors authority in this game essentially topples most of the villians except for Chaos himself.
(SPOILER)
From the text boxes you learn that The Emperor is the mastermind behind most of the conflict taking place in this war, manipulating most of the FF villians for his own ends so he could overthrow Chaos.
Emperor = Best character in this game, plot wise.
I can already see DarkLadyNyara jumping for joy at this news. He has been quite impressive.![]()

this has only just come out in the Uk tho dont forget.

Speaking of it, my pre-order just got sent from Amazon, so Dissidia tomorrow for me, w00t.
Though i was kinda hoping i'd have finished FFIX beforehand, damnit, now I gotta divide the time.
Huh? I remember reading somewhere that Cecil is actually a really good character to start with, since he's not restricted to one fighting style (can switch between dark knight and paladin). That's from what I read though so I'm not able to talk from personal experience (unless my cousins get Dissidia for their PSP and they let me try it out).
He's just a bit awkward and the transforming can be a little confusing at times. Not to mention each form has its own weaknesses and strengths so I feel he's a bit of an overload when it comes to trying to pin down all the game mechanics in the very beginning. Once you get the hang of him he rocks.
I think Cloud or WoL are probably better starting points since they are both incredibly straight forward in play style. They lack the quirkiness of the other characters.

To be honest, I bought a PSP for this game and its probably the second time in my life I bought a gaming system for one game and it was actually worth it (the other being my Wii) cause Dissidia is pretty damn awesome. Especially in its shameless fanservice.![]()

To be honest Im half tempted to stop getting gameinformers cause they gave it a 6.5 and that dumb gerbil/rat movie game a 7....
