    Yeah, smacking it isn't very smart. You can, however, use a blunt knife in step 1. Pry it in between the lid and the jar until you hear the al too familiar sound of air slipping in.

    turn the jar upside down then while maintaining a firm grip smack the bottom with the heel of your hand, should work
    I like chocolate!! No matter what flavor you get, you can always taste the broken dreams!
