"1D" and "4D"?

If the films where everything is closer and seams to "jump out" is "3D" and normal stuff is "2D", then there must be a "1D" right? What is it?

Also I have heard things advertised as being "4D" films, (usually in theme parks, and special events) what is "4D"?

If you're talking about films, there are only your basic "2D" films, and then there are your "3D" films which require the use of those special colorful glasses to see the film 'jump out'. There are no "1D" films. This "4D" films you speak of, is a term used at theme parks to describe the presentation when you watch a show. It's basically 3D with added features to make it feel as you are experiencing the film. "Honey, I Shrunk The Audience" is a good example of a "4D" film.

Edit: I'll try to describe a scene that you might experience while watching a "4D" film. Let's say you're watching a film, and an explosion occurs. You'll not only get to watch it in 3D, but you may also get to feel the heat from said explosion.

Oh I just made mine up. I don't think Proto's is made up though. I do remember Honey I Shrunk the Audience being billed as '4D'.

If you're interested in ACTUAL dimensions-

Read read read! Skip to part 2 if the explanation of how flatland works bores you. It is really not that important if you aren't interested. The 1D part is in the first chapter of part 2. Also keep in mind this was written in 1884 which I think is pretty amazing. Also read Planiverse for a 2D world because that is a geniunely and truly brilliant book.

After I read these I wanted to be able to see in four dimensions and my limited sight pissed me off x))) There's no way we could create a physical concept of 4D. It's impossible.
