I don't even notice the slowdown anymore when I play. Occasionally something happens that causes it but I never felt the overall flow of battle felt slower. To each their own, but do you think your feelings might be affected by playing ROMs with fast forward features too much? Just asking...

Like most of the games that got hot new translations, I can't bring myself to play the old versions anymore. The original now feels like a bad fan translation rather than a legitimate entry.
