Default Commercially produced "video game lampooning" game

Does anyone ever know if any video games were produced with the specific purpose of lampooning the clichés in video games? I know various games will have occasional one-liners which poke fun at some clichés, but nothing more than that.

For example, was there a commercially produced rpg that was full of The Grand List Of Console Role Playing Game Clichés with the intent of making fun of the genre as a whole?

Not sure about lampooning, but one of the words I always use to describe the original Metal Gear Solid is "genre-ey". It's very aware that it's a video game, and the support team even tells you to act on what you would expect from a video game.

I think 3D-Dot Game Heroes might also play into this, in the RPG arena as you asked Mullet.

I can't think of a game that was made to poke fun at gaming clichés but I have played games that poke fun at elements of rival franchises. In True Crimes NYC, the main character takes a shot at GTA during the taxi missions saying something along the lines of driving a taxi next thing they'll have me playing with remote control cars.

GTA has a pop at True Crimes in San Andreas. At one of the train stations there is a billboard for a game called True Grimes street cleaner

Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is probably the biggest one that seemed to directly lampoon popular video games and game genres. The other ones listed did have some fourth-wall breaking, and Conker's Bad Fur Day did do a lot of movie parodies, but I can't think of any others right now that directly spoofed other actual games.

God Hand has it's moments as well. Like at the end of the first stage Gene says, "Finally a boss fight!"

This game makes fun of RPG clichés, and it's pretty fun too.

Kingdom of Loathing probably fits the bill pretty well. It's not enormously 'commercial', but it parodies all cliches pretty nicely.

Hah. Kingdom of Loathing is quite funny. I genuinely want that My World, My Way game though. It looks adorable! xD
