There was once this game on the NES that was so similar to the Legend of Zelda, except it was a bit more RPG-ish and the screen scrolled in real time, typically keeping you in the center of the screen. You'd start the game, and then you'd choose your color. I always chose blue, but there were way more than just that. The game then started a bit west of this house. When you went to the house, you'd be able to level up with the EXP you've gotten, and it would also heal you, because it's a house. Going southwest a little ways I eventually found an axe, and I used it to cut the trees around some sort of portal. Going through the portal I found a beach, but walking on the sand made my HP go down!I died.
That's as far as I ever got. The hero looked suspiciously like Sophitia's Extra Costume in Soul Calibur 2.
