Seriously, why is it with songs/games with songs in do they censor out the most retarded words? Like in Guitar Hero 5, where phrases like 'To kill' and words such as 'drunk' are censored out.
Also, in the censored version of Coheed And Cambrias Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star Four (part 1) album, words such as crush, die and hell.
Aren't they be a little too over serious about it all?
I made one myself for a change! Although you can probably tell that..

It's to appeal to the kiddies. Seriously, add in most of those words and you'll get a teen rating at least, which doesn't look as family friendly.

Yeah, but 'kiddies' say worse things than that in day to day life!
Censoring the word drunk is just stupid

I'm not saying it isn't stupid, only that they'd get a higher rating if they didn't and that would go against the family friendly party game view many hold of those titles. It's a business decision on Activision's part since they think they'll make more money that way.

Activision; doing everything they can to suck the fun out of games for, well, almost forever.

    This is true.
The fact that they actually give a language warning on the rear of the case makes it even more retarded xD

The FCC and ESRB are both retarded.

I don't think the ESRB is "retarded". It's a way for parents who are concerned about what their kids play to be informed and make decisions.

FCC's censorship regulations, yeah I'd agree with you. Although most censoring is actually done by the networks themselves in fear of losing sponsors.

At least it's not as bad as British censoring.

I remember on the radio, over the summer, they'd play the song "Knocks You Down" a lot. There's a line in that song that goes, "I used to be commander-in-chief on my pimp ship, flying high." You'd think that, if anything, they'd censor the word "pimp," but it was always the word "ship" that got left out; presumably because it sounded too much like another four-letter S word. But that seems pretty ridiculous. It doesn't even make contextual sense that they would've said there. Someone would have to be like, barely listening to the song, except for the part where he says "ship," and then only half-hear it, and then actually have enough of a knee-jerk reaction to call up and complain, and even then I don't think it'd have any effect.

I'm not really sure what line we should draw on censorship, since I think some is warranted, but it really does go too far sometimes.

Really, I don't agree with most censorship.
People say it's to 'protect children'.
If they know how to shag at the age of 10, i think swearing isnt an issue.
This generation makes no difference between swearing and normal speech anyway, it's just another part of the language, where as the past generation has such a tabboo on it.

this generation is no different than the last when it comes to swearing.
I do feel we are being way too overprotective of kids today, but there are some things that are inappropriate for kids. Try working at a daycare with an 8 year old signing Love Game, "...I wanna take a ride on your disco stick!" The problem is they don't even know what they're saying.

Now some things are censored that shouldn't be, while some things that aren't censored should be. But what it boils down to in my mind, is that why are parents listening to that music with their kids anyways. I'll probably listen to classic rock or something when my (future) kids are that age. Today's pop music, rap, hip hop is not appropriate for kids, regardless of censoring.

If 12 year olds can play M-rated games, censorship shouldn't be around... If they have to be censored in the first place, they probibly shouldn't even be shown!

And if kids are resourcful enough to find things that are cencored, then they should be able to see/hear it... If they can find it within all the junk of society, then they're probibly smart enough (or just lucky) to understand it...
