I just get so annoyed and irritated with myself for not being able to fall asleep that I eventually exhaust myself and pass out.
Music or video games are not good ways to get to sleep. Reading is often recommended, though.
I often have a lot of trouble getting to sleep.
My roomie's dad had pretty much the most amazing advice I've ever heard for insomnia.
Basically, if you can't sleep, instead of letting yourself get frustrated about it and worrying about not getting sleep, just say "Well, I guess I just won't sleep tonight." Make plans for things to do. Play games or watch movies, though not with the intent of putting yourself to sleep. Just do whatever you want with the intent of staying up all night. If you do fall asleep, awesome. If you don't, no big deal. Try again tomorrow.
The biggest part of not being able to sleep - at least for me - is constantly stressing over how I can't sleep. But there's no reason beating yourself up over it and stressing out. That'll just make it harder to sleep. Just do something enjoyable with nothing extra attached to it and let whatever happen.
Yup. Stressing about it is always the worst. I haven't had any real problems with insomnia in quite awhile. I think it's almost directly tied to depression, for me.
If I have trouble sleeping at night these days, it's usually because I fell asleep earlier in the afternoon so I'm not tired enough.
Reading is the best solution, I think.
I want to third the wank suggestion.
You wank to comedy?
nope, seperately; but now that you mention it, I can't think up a particularly attractive comedians off the top of my head..
