Why do so many people want to start in glaciers, btw? Is there something I'm not aware of that you guys are? I thought Mountainside would easily be the best place for dwarves to be... either that or inside said mountain, anyway, but obviously you can't get inside the mountain without getting to the mountainside first!

Magma pipes are really cool! I killed dwarf babies in my last fortress with magma. Also, something called MAGMA MAN came out of the magma.

Are magma pipes fairly exclusive to glacier regions?

I found mine near a volcano!

Edit: Hey! Just now on the embark screen I found a glacier area with magma somewhere beneath it!

Oh, I got confused because I thought you were answering the initial question in my post. Yeah, mountainside and close-ish to a volcano would be neat.
