Wait wait wait wait wait. Wait. The main characters falling in love in a matter of minutes is a bad thing?! Doesn't that happen in almost every. Single. Disney Animated movie ever?

Well, in all the princess ones they do, with the exception of maybe Beauty and the Beast. Enchanted did a good job of poking fun at this fact.

I mean, look at The Little Mermaid. They fell in love with each other upon first glance! Then spent the rest of the movie risking their own well being to get together!

In Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty, but the princes are also practically faceless and clones of each other in those movies, too. Can't think of others off the top of my head.

Even though - in The Little Mermaid - Eric and Ariel fall in love at first sight, there's still half a movie of them romancing each other (or, actually, Ariel trying to romance Eric and him falling in love with her even though he doesn't want to). Beauty and the Beast is also an exception, like Bromance said. Mulan and Pocahontas are exceptions, too, I think. Even Hercules has a better love story! Maybe. If the frogs were humans instead of frogs when they danced and almost kissed and said mushy stuff, I might feel differently.

Yeah, in Pocahontas and Hercules it takes about half the movie to happen. In Mulan it takes all the way until the end of the movie to happen!

    1. The animation sucks - as if frames are missing. So clumsy looking.
    2. I can't remember a single song, save for the witch doctor's song.
    3. The villain is a stick person like 90% of all cartoon villains. I'm super bored with the overused flimsy, stretchy villain look.
    4. Nearly every character just regurgitates a stereotype, because good Disney characters are things of the past, I guess.
    5. Tiana is a frog during the whole darn movie.
    6. The pace is SUPERSONIC in speed (the froggies are in love in, like, five minutes).
    7. Frog romance does not float my boat.
    8. Predictable.
I said it was good, not amazing. Good meaning it served it purpose and was entertaining.

Also, what isn't predictable these days? 99.99% of the movies I watch these days, I figure out what will happen before it does.

    You should watch better movies.

Meh, even then they are mostly predictable. I have seen movies that are "better" and most of the time I still figure out what's gonna happen. I mean there are some that will actually surprise me, but they are few and far between.

I thought it was pretty obvious that it was going to be a lot of frog stuff from just the previews alone. Then also the characters when announced, I personally didn't expect her to befriend a croc and such when she was a human.

I have yet to see this movie but I don't think it's so much about the falling in love more of the journey they have to make with each other. I got that from the trailers so if you went in thinking it was going to be another movie where they fall in love and that's the entire plot then you pretty much weren't paying attention to the trailers.

I'm planning on seeing this soon so I'll get back to you with how it turned out for me.

Also, within the time frame of those movies, the romancin' takes place throughout the span of days or weeks. In TPatF, the froggies (SPOILER)are ready to spend the rest of their lives together the same night they meet.

In exactly what world does a Disney animated movie prove to be anything except predictable? Pixar - because they are skilled people who make good films - do not. Disney - because they are riding on the coattails of past glories they cannot hope to reclaim - do.

Possibly in a world where Howard Ashman is still alive and delivering genius input on the development of Disney films!

I guess I didn't explain myself well. You're complaining because the falling in love thing happens quickly. I'm saying that it's not the fact that it happens, it's what happens to them that love happens.

too much "happen"s in that o.o

I'll agree that the songs didn't pop so much but that's cause it's randy newman and I just am not of fan of his. I did like the firefly song and the well the Voodoo Mans song.

I liked this one because yeah it was about love but love wasn't the main goal of the princess, she wanted to fulfill her dream. It wasn't until later that she found love. As I said before, it was the journey that made them fall in love not that they wanted to fall in love like so many other disney movies.

I liked the voodooman he was my fav. I liked that the sidekick of the Voodooman was his shadow, that was pretty neat.

Over all I enjoyed it a lot. It was a good movie. I think it works with the whole disney musical 2D thing and it's setting the way for a new generation of them if they decide to make more. Just take out randy newman xP The story was cute, the songs weren't the best but I usually only like 2 songs per disney film anyway. Of course with a few exceptions.

I thought this movie was wonderfully charming and just fun to watch from start to finish. Part of your appreciation may be based on how much you enjoy the whole New Orleans cajun culture, but I think overall there's stuff there for everyone. The plot and characters were strong but I do have to agree that not all of the songs really hit it out of the park, though a few did. It was overall a lot of fun and I feel a return to form.
