Chicken-wuss is pretty literally accurate, actually. There's probably something that would sound more socially accurate to Americans, but you'd have to ask Woolsey about that.
He meant to say "straight-guy." Naturally Zell got pissed.

You could go with "Chicken-Jerk" or "Chicken-Bastard," too. The reason why these all sound stupid is that they are literal word-for-word translations of the original Japanese phrase, and an English speaker would never say such a combination of words seriously. Some translators understood this and accounted for it, but were constantly scoffed at by ignorant fans when they took liberties with the translation to make the dialogue more natural to the English audience. That's why we're stuck with crap like "Chicken-Wuss."

"Yarou" defies literal translation, but it's basically just a derogatory name. "Wuss" is pretty appropriate.
ff8 translation was done very well indeed....by all accounts
I think the original means Chicken Darling or something cause I got an official art here that shows Seifer is into Zell.
Ignore the price tag, no idea how it got there. Internet nowadays.
