Chocobo The Most Lighthearted Final Fantasy

So people keep talking about which FF was "Dark" and "Edgy" but personally I feel most of them fall into this category in some certain situations so I guess the real question should be which FF is the most lighthearted and friendly, with moogles and chocobos skipping down fields of flowers with rainbows in the distance?

Depends if you mean light hearted plot, or light hearted atmosphere. Plot wise FFIX was very dark imo. On the over all with the art style and character interactions I would say it is one of the lighter games. So it really depends on which you go by.

X-2 was full of bubbly. It failed to feel dark and depressing in any way. Besides that game well I guess Final Fantasy Chocobo Fables. It's main theme says it all.

FFX-2 probably wins this, but I refuse to acknowledge that game's existence. So I'll go with FFIX.

FFIX, some of it was very, very corny; the romance between Zidane and Garnet was arguably the cheesiest and least substantive in the series. Pretty emotional when she jumps into his arms, though.

That said it's still one of my favorite games of all time.

FFV, of course, the little burst of glee.

X-2 by a country mile. It was upbeat and full of colour.

V, if only for quotes from Bartz and Gilgamesh, such as these:

    • With cheese biscuits and mashed potatoes!
    • Enough expository banter. It's time we fight like men. And ladies. And ladies who dress like men. For Gilgamesh...IT IS MORPHING TIME!
    • Random Drunk Guy: Knights do it two-handed

FF X-2 was definitely bubbly and light-hearted but even that game has it's solemn moments such as the flashbacks of Shuyin.

FFV, it was very light-hearted and didn't take itself too seriously. Up until the end that is.
