Default My EP released on iTunes today!

And, NO, I will not tell you what "name" it is under or anything like that (I'm not here for advertising).

I'm freaking out. I'm excited, but also terrified. If it doesn't sell, then that means two years of hard work on only five songs was for nothing.

Anyone else here in a band or some such musical situation and has released something on iTunes or physically?

Uhm... My husband's band doesn't have anything on YouTube. They have an album almost done, but their manager smurfed them over so it didn't get released. They have music on Facebook/MySpace/something else though. Their band is Blackbird Murder. I <3 them and not just 'cause the drummer is hot, I actually really like their music.

I'm curious about your music! Really understandable how exciting this must be for you!

In about two weeks my new project will go live. There will be no official releases yet, but to introduce ourselves to listeners, venues and record labels we will release our recordings, a music video and a website with a somewhat unique concept. Merchandise is on it's way aswell. It's quite awesome to see all those things come together.

There should be an official music artist thread to keep eachother updated.

Let us know how your EP's gonna do! Or PM me the name so I can find some info.

Congratulations on your failure of a thread.

Also, why put quotes around name?

You're one of us! You're obviously not here just to advertise, so feel free to tell us what the name it is. It's cool, don't worry about it.

Yeah, jeez-- what's the point of telling us that your band's EP released if we can't even check it out?

As for the topic, yeah, I wanted to be in a band. I think anyone with even a minimal grasp of musical theory wants to be involved with it in some way or another. However, I realized how irrational such a thing was for me, since I simply don't have the drive to commit to such things. Just another one of those 'could have been, but never will be' sort of things.

That's awful. Managers can either be a godsend or a complete and utter hindrance. A friend's band had a REALLY successful first album but their manager fouled things up so bad that their second album barely got noticed. They had to fire her before the third album and just try to handle that stuff on their own.

Very exciting! It's awesome when it all starts coming together, yeah? It seems like you've been working on the music for so long that when it gets "birthed" out there in the world, it's amazingly exciting, but also terrifying! :P

Surely you mean: "Why put quotes around 'name'?"
I put quotes around "name" because it isn't my actual name.

Honestly, it's less about how slimy it would be to be all "here it is! go buy my album now! do it!" but more that it is a very specific genre and it's not likely many people here (especially here) would appreciate it. :P

What instruments do you play, Momiji? It's never too late!

If administrators are cool with it, I don't see why you're still holding back!

I used to play saxophone (selling it for college money now), and I started learning guitar, but stopped.

I'm in the process of writing an album. I know the songs I want to be on it - I just haven't finished writing them yet. I spent an eternity writing songs, so it will be a while.

Not that I know what to do once I finish writing it, even if I'm able to record it.

god, i love when people post this egocentric drivel. post the name of your band or stop bragging about your CD that "nobody will probably like". you aren't an artist, get over yourself.

I find what you wrote offensive. I don't see how I'm being egocentric when I'm just sharing the thrill and the dread that comes with completing a project.

Well, first of of, it's not a band; it's just me. And second of all, I'm not here to promote myself. And third of all, I sincerely don't think many people here would enjoy the genre, so why would I make that sort of information available? The point of this thread was just about the excitement and the scariness of finally releasing something and seeing if anyone else experienced something similar or were involved in music in any way as well.

you aren't an artist, get over yourself.
    Why are you so negative?

Ah, you misunderstand. But I can see why. The genre isn't indierock, and by no means "underground." I am not trying to protect any sort of i"ndie image." On the contrary.

But again, that wasn't my aim for this thread.

That's cool dude, hope you do well. We just had an iPhone game released on iTunes and it got into the top 10 in Australia and Italy.

Anyway, something more relevant; I play guitar and have been in a few bands. We had recorded a few songs but nothing ever came of it. So yeah, good luck.

"... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written."

Bunny, don't be a dick. You can use a bit more tact than that at the very least. I know you have the brainpower for it. Don't slag people off for such stupid reasons as not letting you know the name of their band or whatever. Really, now.

Bastian, is there any reason you don't want to let us listen to your music? Isn't that kind of a negative approach? I'm sure that there are some people here who might enjoy the kind of music you make, otherwise you wouldn't be making it. EoFF has a very broad group of people. Sure, not everyone will like it, but that's life and that's music. If you have another reason behind not letting us know, by all means, let us know the reason at least! Maybe you'll get some sales out of it.

Speaking of which: I hope you get some sales! It's great that you've made something and you should be proud of yourself regardless of how many or how little you get out of it. I very much enjoy it when my projects are complete, although it is a rare thing to happen!

That is so super cool! I'll support you (if I can ever pay off my 50 dollar Itunes debt)! Where on iTunes can I find you??
