Default Finally something practical - zipper ID pouch

Saw something like this in Claire's and decided instead of paying $12, I'd make it myself because it's super useful. The pouch is for all my British coinage for laundry and bus fare, the little strap is for attaching to my keychain lanyard, and the little pocket has a clear vinyl cover to hold my ID in safely, but letting me have an easier time getting into my dorm building, since I don't have to go fishing through my pocket/purse/wallet for that ID card! Functional and fun! Okay...

First step completed: Pouch and keychain strap!

    Finished product: Pocket sewn on!

Potentially the worst ID picture ever taken, marginally improved by hitler stache-curly stache combo + well tamed monobrow and goatee!

    Happiness
    :
    * It feels really substantial because I finally decided to start using interfacing
    * I successfully cut and adjusted the size of my zipper.
    * I sewed the zipper part really even
    * Most importantly... I didn't use a pattern or walk-through with this one, I did the design myself. That made me feel really good, because I'm usually so dependent on these guides!

    Unhappiness:
    * The pocket part feels and looks frayed in the part that I cut for the little "window" for the card. I'm not exactly sure how to do it with finished edges, but I'll look into, because the fraying bothers me
    * Since I didn't have the hind sight to sew the window on the zipper pouch before I actually sewed it into the pouch, the stitching is uneven because it was so hard to manuever the machine around. Yuck!
    * A really tiny stupid thing, but the keychain strap points down, instead of evenly horizontally slightly. Silly, but it bothers me!

Overall though, I'm pretty happy. If I manage to get the cute fabric I ordered in time, before I leave, I might make another, hopefully more polished, zipper ID pouch!

Sewing or gluing a cute trim along the frayed edges, such as ribbon or ric rac, would be easy.

Oh my god, I never thought of that! I have like, this super adorable orange and white polka-dot ribbon that I've not been able to use since I made those camera cozies. You're sooooo smart, Monda!

It looks cute. I like the orange with the purple.
