Gumby animator Art Clokey dies at 88 in California - Yahoo! News

I know to a lot of people this isn't a big deal, but I loved Gumby growing up. Loved. When I was like twelve my Nana bought me a Gumby track jacket for 50 cents at an estate sale (welcome to my childhood) and I wore it until it was in pieces because Gumby is a pimp.

And check this dude out:

"I didn't allow merchandising for seven years after it was on the air," Clokey told San Luis Obispo Tribune in 2002, "because I was very idealistic, and I didn't want parents to think we were trying to exploit their children."

Now that's a stand up fellow right there, I tell you what.

I watched a fair amount of Gumby growing up, though it wasn't my favorite show.
