The second one is basically an imporvment in battlesystem mechanics, but doesn't have a quite as interesting story. I like the LA2 characters more than the LA1 ones, with some exceptions.Originally Posted by Vermachtnis

It's not out in english yet, but I've played the japanese version and as far as gameplay goes, Luminous Arc 3 beats both LA1 and LA2 by a lot. The battlesystem is very smooth for a tactical RPG, you can get around 9 or so different endings, there are a whole bunch of different sidequests and the Wi-Fi is also greatly improved.
