Bah, I came back to it and stuck on the 3-block level right after the first big 9-block one. I know there must be some sort of trick to it, but 5 minutes of screwing around with it resulted in nothing.
EDIT: wow, I'm an idiot. Nevermind, just taking a second glance at it and I figured it out instantly.
EDIT2: ok, now the next one has me stuck. >=(
