    Default What the hell.

Okay so, I dun did it. I clicked on a link in an email an acquaintance sent to me and now my computer is infected with something called Antivirus Live. I think it could be a trojan or virus. It keeps giving me annoying notifications and when I tried to remove it with anti-virus software, it didn't work. I then proceeded to download a spyware software that was recommended to me to get rid of this particular problem. However, Antivirus Live would not let me launch the said program stating that, "This program is a virus" or some ish like that. At the moment it's popping up viagra and porn sites on internet explorer despite the fact that I don't even use internet explorer. I tried system restore too and that didn't work either. According to a few questionnaire sites, the only way to get rid of it is to manually remove it, but I don't how to go about doing that. HALP PLZ!

It looks like this guide is pretty thorough:
How To Remove Antivirus Live and Other Rogue/Fake Antivirus Malware - the How-To Geek
You'll prolly need to get on another computer to download some of the tools, and have a thumbdrive to save them to, but given both of those you should be able to do it fairly easy. Just print off that guide and follow it step-by-step, hopefully it'll get you taken care of. And maybe on top of getting rid of the Anti-virus Live it'll also get rid of the other stuff that's been plaguing you these past few months

Thanks, Stu! I tried getting on my computer and working this out today, but the the program you've linked still wouldn't launch even in Safe Mode. I attempted to use Firefox adblocker while I was on and just block some of the websites that kept popping up, but the virus would just pop up with new porn and Viagra sites and I still kept getting the, "DOWNLOAD THIS NOW" notifications. It seems the only way I'm gonna be able to fix this is getting a new computer or using the restore disk. For now, I'll just have bum off my dad's computer unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Tried that twice, Celes, and still nothing. The program said it had removed something called fakeantivirus, but it didn't because it's still there.

    That's not cool.

My parents' computer has some sort of virus as well, and they're having a lot of trouble getting that taken care of. There seems to be an abnormally large virus outbreak as of late, as one my friends also nearly was infected with a virus last night but she took care of that, and Alan has been having trouble with keyloggers and the like lately.

    Good luck getting that fixed!

My friend got her email taken over by spambots once so me and all my friends on her contact list got emails with ick all over them! I don't think anyone opened them, though. It was pretty obvious spam.

If it’s causing too much haste it may be an idea to format it completely and start over fresh.
