Windows Live, why do you hate me so?
Alright after months of having trouble updating my Windows Live messenger (it was saying I was missing a file but I remedied that problem today thanks to help from people with similar problems) I finally fixed it. However, now that I have messenger back on my computer, the proper version installed and everything, I can't connect to messenger through the client.
I decided to try connecting to messenger through hotmail.com and it worked, but I can't manage to get the client to connect. It simply tells me it has error 80040154 and that it can't connect at this time. I followed the faq instructions for this and it didn't help at all. I tried reinstalling and it said I have the proper files and everything. It just simply refuses to work.
Any suggestions?

it's not fun, don't do it
I had this problem for months and months and tried everything and couldn't fix it. Eventually I just installed Pidgin and used that. I re-installed Windows recently though, which fixed it, but that's a bit extreme >_ >

yeah I would do that if i knew where the windows disc was. I have more than just that reason to re-install it. Looks like I'll be installing pidgin or gaim

There is no spoon.
Have you considered changing client to something more stable then the live clients.
for example: pidgin, amsn, bitlbee etc.
Microsoft develops bloated programs so you should try and stay away from them ^^
I love my Albatross!
