Dude if I started trying to buff without a medic around whilst fighting a Behemoth King, I would get destroyed before I had half the buffs up.

Oh, fair enough - as I said, only against the hardest enemies do I bother with it. I figured you use it against everyone. I would just change my team to fit the Behemoth King, probably, if I were to take them on again.

Yeah I never start with a Medic unless I've fought that enemy before and it has given me a brutal pasting in the first couple of rounds and killed me.
Trial and error!
When I can choose I'll probably go for Lightning/Fang/Hope or Lightning/Vanille/Sazh. Not sure yet, but I'm only in chapter 8.
