    Default Sazh

Sazh is my new favorite Final Fantasy character, truly unlike anyone I've ever seen in a video game. Sazh sort of represents the "every man" quite perfectly. His relationship with his son is extremely touching, his banter is hilarious without being overdone, and the fact that he is so calm and ordinary is amazing. It's not his special powers or combat prowess, but rather his wit and belivability that makes me love him so. He, in many ways, represent the player: uninformed, ordinary, and learning everything as we play. (For the most part.) He's pacific, yet courageous, foolish, yet intelligent, calm, yet emotional, and utterly aodrable.

His plot is so tragic yet fufilling that his easily outdoes any other character's story arc, IMO. That is why I love Sazh.

    Discuss Sazh.

He is probably the most truly human FF character ever.

I totally agree. The other Final Fantasy characters are clearly characters, but Sazh is, like, a person. He's very human and charming. And he has a frocobo.

    I <3 Sazh 4evah.

I like specifically how Sazh and Hope sum up how normal people would react if they ever were interacting with the other characters. The perfect examples for me are when Lightning talks about chapter 3 spoilertaking the fight to Sanctum's door and Sazh initially thinks she's joking, then after a pause he turns, surprised, and says "You're serious!?". The best example is still Hope's reaction to Vanille when she wants to explore the Vestige though. His twisted expression made me laugh loud.

I like them for the same reason. The other guys are enjoyable characters, but Hope and Sazh are just like, so realistic and endearing to me beyond any other game.

My favourites are probably Vanille and Sahz, purely because they seem to be the only ones capable of having a genuine friendship in the game. All the other ones start off snotty. I like all the others though. It's pretty unusual for me to like all the characters. Didn't they do a great job with them this time? No Tidus-a-likes, although I initally feared Snow would be like him, he ended up being pretty good.

Seriously, I genuinely like every single character. That alone, would make this game fantastic for me, but there's so many other great factors to. This game seems like such a corrective to FFXII to me - characters that are actually engaging, good music, beautiful worlds, quite a bit of challenge in fighting as you go on (seriously chapter 11 is soooo hard) and a plot that's actually, you know, interesting.

Yeah, the age thing is annoying. I was surprised to find out he's 40 though, seeing as his kid is only six. Still, 40 isn't old enough to always be like "I am super old, blah blah."

That is his only flaw though. <3

Sazh is the absolute ! Best character in a Final Fantasy ever!

At first I was skeptical about Sazh because I thought it was going to be another cliche caricature of the "token black guy" just inserted into an FF game to try and appeal to more audiences.

Needless to say, I was absolutely wrong on this, and I'm quite pleasantly surprised. He doesn't really look 40, but I really do enjoy his character a lot. They really worked a miracle with this character, and I think it was executed beautifully.

Slightly off-topic, but I enjoy almost all of FF XIII's cast. I was also extremely impressed with the voice acting work done for this game. I think they did a really great job, with the exceptions of all the "uh/ugh"s and excessive light laughter [I'm looking at Vanille here]. FF XIII is truly a great work of art in terms of the voice acting, the graphics, the cast, and their character designs. Best I've seen from SE in these categories for quite a long time. This is something like what Star Ocean 4 SHOULD have been.

The man is a legend of video game characters. He's still my favourite character, despite not being one of the best in combat.

The only thing that has bothered me about him so far is that his voice actor is the same guy that did The Black Baron in Madworld, and you can hear the same voice come through on occasion. I mean, I love Sazh so far, but whenever I hear The Black Baron I really expect him to start going "Pimps, players, and perpetrators, I am your Black Baron!" If you're one of the three other people that played the game, you'll understand.

My Dad would have said the same thing when he was 40. Probably not as often, but yeah. I know a few guys at work that would, too!
