Who doesn't bother to use Aeris?
The only time I've voluntarily had her in my party was my first play through; after finding out she dies less than half way through the game I don't see the point.

I think you'll find most people leave her out. "Wasted effort" they would say.
Sometimes I like to use her for kicks. I usually switch to using Cid and Yuffie anyway, so she can chill in my party until then.
I like to put her in my party with no armor and never heal her so she can practice dying for her big finale.
I use her so i can enjoy her while i have her.

I feel I have to be fair to my characters so I used all of them.
Like people, I try to treat them with dignity, to not use them I feel is unfair treatment.
Just my opinion about how I use characters in the games I play.
Wll since I didn't KNOW she died the first time around, I used her, and I found a her a very likeable character, and somewhat usefull (she has higher magic skills, and can save on MP with her Limits) I always use her now, because I got to like her.
I don't use her.Only when the game forces me to.
