Other Classes

Final Fantasy I has a fairly straight forward set up when it comes to character classes. I would have liked to see a few more classes in the mix, just for a bit more variety (especially in the ports/remakes).

So what other classes (from the FF series and abroad. Hell even make one up) would you have liked to see taking on Bikke's Pirates and rescuing Matoya's crystal eye!?

I can start naming my favorite classes from future FF installments, but I'll try to think of one that would fit this game the best.

It would be something with some defense, so that Fighter isn't the only practical party member to put in the front row.
I would just have to figure out some way to make them different from a fighter. Here are some ideas:

Ronin/Saumrai
Lower def/attack than Fighter
Can equip most swords/armor
Can equip Katana (duh)
Ability: Dblow - supper high damage/insta death or miss

Higher def/lower attack
Can equip all armor, less variety of weapons.
Ability: Cover - takes the next attack against the party that turn
The thing that makes Cover not OP againts bosses is that it might not get cast before the boss takes their turn.
