PaRappa the Rapper, the prequel to Guitar Hero?
I choose to believe that PaRappa the Rapper is the prequel to Guitar Hero, DDR, and all of the other music themed games that are out today. It had a great sound track and the game was played by pressing the buttons to the beat.
Without PaRappa the Rapper there would be no Rock Band, which means no 12 year-olds would know about the Beatles, so we must sing, no, rap, the praises of PaRappa the Rapper.

That's very true although I know the Harmonix people had some game before they did the original Guitar Heroe's... I don't know if it predates PaRappa, but somehow I doubt it.
One of my favorite Playstation games of my childhood, I think everyone knew that onion head rap in the dojo of the first one. Fun times!

Well, there was Beatmania in 1997, GuitarFreaks in 1998, and DrumManie in 1999.
And Harmonix had Frequency and Amplitude in 2001 and 2003 respectively.
So I wouldn't say GH/RB are here because of PaRappa the Rapper, although that game was hella fun.
Lastly, I fail to see how another generation jerking off to The Beatles is a good thing.

Another rhythm game worth playing: Space Channel 5 for the Dreamcast. Short and sweet. I think there's a second SC5 out for the PS2 and XBox too.

Tomfoolery
The first time I seen a Parappa the Rapper ad, my brain did not register the second p in Rapper, and I have been scarred since.

What about Simon? The original original Guitar Hero?

Lol, when I was doing music game research they mentioned Simon.
