Default Other FF references! [may be spoilers]

So I haven't gotten that far but i've seen a few common FF things. Like cid, Biggs and Wedge's market thing, lindblum, chocobos! And the couple of summons i've seen!

    What else have you found?

At first I thought everyone's Chapter 2L'Cie tatoos resembled Zell's and Ultimecia's tatoos from Final Fantasy VIII. (Favorite still goes to the Lindblum for paying tribute to the best!)

Vanille's running style is exactly like FFX-2 yuna's

The Palamecia, the Sanctum's flagship, shares the same name as the Empire in FFII.

ETA: A number of the fal'Cie have names used elsewhere in the series, notably as summons, but also monsters or ships too:

    Eden
    Carbuncle
    Phoenix
    Titan
    Atomos

Palumpolom is quite similar to Palom and Porom from IV.

Kajata can be added to the list by Crowseye. In fact, a lot of others probably can, too.

Lightning and Snow, while not direct references, can be thrown in alongside Cloud and Squall (and possibly others) for referencing weather in a lead character's name.
    Bow before the mighty Javoo!

The COM/COM/COM paradigm is called "Cerberus".

Names mostly, the first fal'Cie you encounter is named Anima, seeing as how Anima debuted in FFX, this teams first major FF project, I feel its more than just a re-use of names. There is also a boss named ProudClod which is the name of a boss from FFVII, the FF title most of the team got its start on.

There are tons of references concerning the weapons. I still believe that Nautilus' backgrounds in the dungeon sectioned showcased scenery very reminiscent to the Speed Square ride in Gold Saucer. Your party arrives using a ride tube that is set-up and reminiscent of how your party gets around in the Gold Saucer as well except you can't travel to most of the rides cause people are blocking your way or they are out of order.

I would also like to point out that I find it amusing that Odin controls Lightning magic as he has typically been susceptible to this particular element in past entries.

That seems a translation error. Either it was meant to be that originally or they have cocked up.

of course it might be that the japanese in the game is a variation on パロムポロム. But there is no difference at all between japanese for polom and porom for starters.

    edit:

    パルムポルム

This appears to be what they used for the town...so I take it back looks like I was wrong. However, this would be rendered Palumpurum (the only thing they have changed is O to U) as a better translation to Palom and Porom, but I am guesing they chose Palumpolom because it kinda looks a bit better.
