It's called awareness. The actions people take usually indicate to others the type of person they are. The reason Ricky Martin's homosexuality announcement was expected is because the actions he took early on in his career indicated that he was probably less than heterosexual. Let's call it profiling, for another word.

There isn't a problem with homosexuality and nobody is demonizing him for coming out of the closet; most people just are not surprised that it happened.
