Is this some new kind of furry?

Hah, no. It's just another word meaning male homosexual (Androphilia (from Greek andro-, adjective/adverbial form of "male," + -philia, "love") is attraction to adult males.)

He got it from a book by the same name wherein the author tries to convince the reader to reject the term "gay" as it carries too much baggage and describes an entire lifestyle that he rejects, so he encourages similarly minded male homos to adopt this more archaic term. I totally would, but then I'd sound like a pretentious a-hole, so . . . eh.

Well, that's why people started using the word "queer." Although, I'm sure it means something entirely different from androphile.

I'm not gay but I would like an honourary membership of this club on account of the fact that I cannot STAND Two & Half Men.

That's all it takes to get in, really.
