He got it from a book by the same name wherein the author tries to convince the reader to reject the term "gay" as it carries too much baggage and describes an entire lifestyle that he rejects, so he encourages similarly minded male homos to adopt this more archaic term. I totally would, but then I'd sound like a pretentious a-hole, so . . . eh.
