Default Dragon Age: Origins has a story element similar to FFXII

Anora was the tomboyish daughter of a legendary war hero and she grew up to marry her childhood friend Prince Cailan.

Queen Anora gradually began to care for King Cailan over the years but it was nothing more than a marriage of convenience in her eyes. And she wasn't too choked up when her father Loghain Mac Tir, betrayed her husband at Ostagar.

Queen Anora is like a more cold-hearted version of Queen Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca. Coincidentally you the player can make Queen Anora go through yet another "marriage of convenience" if you're a human noble Grey Warden. But whether or not Queen Anora actually falls in love with King Cousland, similar to the way Queen Ashe fell in love with King Rasler, remains to be seen.

A romance subplot between King Cousland and Queen Anora is something Bioware could flesh out for the Dragon Age sequel but it seems unlikely considering the fact that Queen Anora can't travel with King Cousland because she has to rule over Denerim, in her husband's absence.
