I think it has more to do with the fact that Canada always ranks higher than the USA in these type of things. Then again, California has a larger population than Canada.

Anyway, that reminds me about one thing I found odd about French cuisine when I was over there: I don't want cheese for dessert. Give me cake or pie or ice cream, or something else actually sweet. Though I must say I loved the pastries they had for breakfast.
