Thread: Confused and Annoyed

    Default Confused and Annoyed

All the compatibility lists I've seen say that X and X-2 are compatible with the PS3, but when I put the discs in mine, it says it's not.
I have a headache now, but I would really like to play these games, but I don't have a PS2.
Any ideas? Did I miss something?

I think it depends which model of PS3 you have. I believe the first 60 and 80 GB ones were backwards compatible to most PS2 games. However the new ones, 120 and 250 GB models, are not backwards compatible, so I've been told.

    NO! That is terrible news.

Does this mean the games are useless?

Unfortunately so. In order to cut down the price on the newer models of PS3s, Sony cut backwards compatability with the PS2. So you either need a seperate PS2, or one of the older model PS3s.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

Don't you know anybody with a PS2? I'm sure they'd let you borrow since they prolly have a PS3. Or you could buy one, they aren't that expensive are they? 100 bucks?

No, they're not expensive, I was just so excited when I saw X on the backwards compatibility lists, now I'm a little crestfallen.
(Also, I'm a waitress, so $100 is a kinda big deal, since that's gas money for 2 months.)

You may be able to buy a used one for an even lower price. Look around online!

Though any used one you might buy is likely very old xD

You probably can find a ps2 at a pawn shop..$30-$40.

    Good luck.

    Yay Sony!

Don't know why anyone would actually want to PLAY the hundreds of dollars worth of games they bought in the past when you can play "Brown, Gritty, and Realistic: The FPS" and all it's brethren.

You can get old PS2's for like £15 here, that's what, $30-$35?

I specifically bought an old PS3 as well, 1) if it was gona go YLOD it would have done it by now (I would hope) and 2) I wanted the backwards compat. 3) If memory every becomes an issue it's easilly (and cheaply) upgraded. I do have my PS2 still but I use it as a DVD player in my bedroom.

Anyone know if X will end up on the PSstore eventually?

Actually the PS3 has been widely commended for coming into its own with a wide variety of games of top quality.

    This does suck, though

I know money's tight for you OP but my advice, to echo others, would be to see if someone will let you borrow one or try to find a cheap one used. FFX's a great game so I hope you get to try it out!!!

Gamestop has refurbished ones more in my price-range. None of my gamer friends want to give up their old one, so I guess I'll be looking into that.

    Thanks everybody!
