Celes: fashion faux pas
As we all know, Celes's original costume drawn by Amano is yellow and black, like so:
However, her sprite outfit is completely different:
All the other characters' outfits are based on their Amano designs, except for Celes. In my opinion her sprite outfit is horrid and I have no idea why they changed it. Your thoughts on this?

I know they changed Terra's hair to green to help differentiate the sprites, maybe this is part of the same change.
I didn't think her sprite looked that bad, at the SNES level of detail the fact that she was walking around in a bathing suit all the time didn't come off as too weird.
(And Terra's hair is much better green)
Didn't they change a few Amano outfits and other games as well? I have to admit, the bathing suit-wearing General look is a bit odd.
Maybe the soldiers who were beating her forced her to wear it. I mean, it makes sense that a traitor would have her uniform stripped, and depending on how depraved they were... Does she ever get changed after that scene?

Yeah, let's just blame it on the soldier's swimsuit fetish. I think she was wearing it in the flashbacks before she defected though.

Apparently it was too hard to animate her original outfit so they had to change it.

Well, I would say the sprite looks more like a general. But aside from that, yeah the Amano design is better. They probably changed it to make her look like a general, though.

I just noticed that the female soldiers in FFIX are dressed similarly!

I actually prefere her sprite outfit, but that might be partly because I just don't like Amano's art.
...obviously, I don't really mind swimsuits either though.
Her sprite outfit is much better and I'm not too fond of Amano's drawing (well not the drawing itself, just the outfit Celes is wearing, it's hideous IMO). And I much prefer Terra with Green hair as opposed to her original blonde hair.
When we dance, it looks just like Fire.
When we sing, it sounds the same tone.
I also like Terra better with green hair. Makes her unique and gives her magical kinda vibe.
