    Question Replayability?

Hey im just curious as to whether this game has any genuine replayability. And what y'all think about the replayability.
I have played main storyline twice, first just to enjoy the main game and then the second time around with a little more experience of it under my belt so I can start properly upgrading weapons and access etc. (cause the first time round i screwed it all up lol) and do the post game section.
Now my problem with replayability is having already done all that, I could go back and play it again, but because of the crystarium caps throughout the game and the SLOW introduction of the fighting system, you cant do anything really different in replays of the game. Its pretty much always gonna be the same gameplay every time, which to me is a SERIOUS flaw, one of my favourite thigs to do with ff games, was to replay them and see what I could do differently/better/more efficiently. Or do various challenges, my favourite type being the power level runthroughs, and occasionally the low level playthru's.
None of this is really possible in this game, except for the lowl level playthru where you basically dont use the crystarium at all, but in this game like no other SERIOUSLY difficult (i know ive seen the low level walkthru).
In conclusion, I think that in terms of replayability squeenix have REALLY shot themselves in the foot, I loved replaying games and doing things differently each time, here you just cant, it will always be the same gameplay every time. I do actually feel kinda sad about that cause it's a pretty enjoyable game on the whole. I really wish they had had the option to remove the crystarium cap, or have a new game+ or SOMETHING.

Ah well never mind. I will step down from my soapbox. Stepping down now. "pushes soapbox to communal area" now your turn. lol

In all honesty? Not much, if any at all. But then, I don't replay many games and when I do, it's generally years later. I'm currently replaying FFV, personally.

    Replayability = 0

Had to push myself to finish the game in the first place. This game has nothing to offer for a second playtrough, unlike most previous games in the series.

I'm on my 2nd playthrough now as the same as the OP I screwed up upgrading etc. I'm enjoying seeing bits of the story I missed first time round.

But you're right, 3rd playthrough? It'll be a long time if ever.

I'd playthrough using a different party setup. Once I got to Pulse I was basically Fang, Vanille & Sazh permanently. I haven't used Snow like, since the stadium.

Would be cool to play through as the other three.

I may replay once just because I read a guide and now can actually make customization useful. But if I do it probably won't be for a few years. Unfortunately FFXIII's design concept allows for little benefit from re playability.

Unless you liked the plot and would like to experience it again. That is a significant chunk of me replaying older FF titles. Sadly I wasn't as fond of FFXIII's story.

FF13 isn't great when it come to re-playability unless they release some
    DLCs or International version.

In conclusion, I think that in terms of replayability FF13 team have REALLY shot themselves in the foot
Fixed, play Kingdom hearts birth by sleep,There's Versus Arena (deathmatch/team deathmatch) which supports up to 6 players, there's Arena mode which supports up to 3 players in co-op challenges, there's Command Board which supports up to 3 players, and there's Rumble Racing (racing minigame you unlock at Disney Town), there are also various forms of community functions.

I don't usually play RPGs more than twice (a story-focused first run and a do-everything-there-is-to-do second run) unless a few years has gone by and I get that ping of nostalgia.

So I'll replay it alright, but after that, it'll start collecting dust until 2013 or something. But that's like every other FF I have.

I really can't see myself ever picking this game up again. It became a war of attrition just finding the will to finish it the first time.

Zero, definitely. I doubt I'll ever play this again. The strict linearity of 90% of the game plus the messy plot that I couldn't have cared less about really kills any replay value.

Given the linearity, the crappy plot, boring characters, and even exploring Pulse so far being about as much fun as almost landing on the family jewels after a failed attempt at a 40" box jump last night, any chance at the game having any replayability would hinge on the battle system. But since you get absolutely no control over even party setup for the first 20+ hours it means that fully half the game will be the exact same as the first time through. Add in the fact that the battle system is still pretty shallow even when fully fleshed out and that you need a balance of all the roles to really succeed and there's no reason to play again. Even using a different party won't yield a drastically different game unless you like leaving out roles you may occasionally need to either avoid battles taking half an hour, or which are required at points to save you from instant death.

Without a better battle system, more exploration and a better plot, I can safely say I will never play this game again after I muster the will to finally trudge on through to the end.

Without debating with the people who are whiners and don't appreciate the game's quality, it doesn't have re-playability, for the same reason I felt FFXII did not. A 200 hour RPG (because if you only play the main story your only playing half of the game) rarely calls for a replay.

Default You could argue that lack of replayability is a quality issue

although that would move the discussion into the flaws thread

    lol.
